RV Charging Installation Done by a Licensed Electrician

Priceless Electric handles RV charging installation for homeowners across the Augusta metro area. Whether you need a 30-amp TT-30 outlet at the end of your driveway or a full 50-amp hookup in a garage or carport, we size and wire the circuit correctly from the panel out. Over 20 years of electrical work in Columbia County means John Price has seen what happens when this gets rushed or handed off to someone without a license. Call (706) 627-6021 and we'll tell you exactly what your property needs.

Most residential RV hookups run off a dedicated 30-amp or 50-amp circuit pulled directly from your main panel. The right choice depends on your RV's power requirements and what you're running simultaneously. Larger Class A motorhomes with two air conditioners almost always need 50-amp service. Smaller travel trailers typically get by on 30-amp. What drives the cost up is trench length, conduit routing, panel capacity, and whether your existing home electrical panel has room for a new breaker. Every job is different, contact Priceless Electric for an accurate estimate.

What We Install

30-Amp and 50-Amp RV Circuits

outlet location and mounting work, professional service in Grovetown, GA

The outlet type matters less than the circuit behind it, we get both right.

A standard 30-amp RV outlet (TT-30) runs on a single 120-volt circuit. A 50-amp RV outlet (NEMA 14-50) is a split 240-volt circuit that delivers two separate 50-amp legs. These aren't interchangeable, and adapters only get you so far. We install the circuit your RV actually requires, not the one that's cheapest to run. Every outlet gets a weatherproof enclosure rated for outdoor use, and we pull the correct gauge wire for the run length so you're not losing voltage by the time it reaches your rig. For outdoor installs, we route conduit properly so there's nothing buried shallow that a shovel will find in five years.

Our Process

How the Installation Works

Three steps from phone call to plugged-in RV.

  1. 01

    Site Assessment

We look at your panel capacity, the distance from your breaker box to where you want the outlet, and what's in the way. Trenching through a concrete pad costs more than running conduit along a fence line. We tell you this upfront.

  2. 02

    Circuit and Conduit Work

We pull the dedicated circuit from your electrical panel, run conduit to the hookup location, and wire everything to code. No shared circuits, no undersized wire, no guessing on breaker sizing.

  3. 03

    Outlet Installation and Test

The weatherproof outlet goes in, we torque the connections to spec, and we test the circuit under load before we leave. You plug in, you're done.

Know Before You Call

What Affects the Cost of an RV Hookup

01

Panel Capacity

If your main panel is already full or undersized, adding a 50-amp circuit may require a panel upgrade first. We'll tell you that on the assessment, not after we've started.

02

Run Length

The farther the outlet is from your panel, the more wire and conduit we need. A 10-foot run in a garage is a different job than a 120-foot run to the back of a property.

03

Trenching and Burial

Exterior runs in conduit laid on the surface differ from direct-burial cable trenched underground. Local code and your property's layout determine which method applies.

04

Outlet Location and Mounting

Driveways, garages, carports, and dedicated RV pads all present different mounting conditions. Concrete, masonry, wood framing, each adds or removes time from the job.

Common Questions About RV Hookup Installation

Do I need a 30-amp or 50-amp outlet for my RV?
Check your RV's shore power cord. A 30-amp plug has three prongs (TT-30); a 50-amp plug has four (NEMA 14-50). Most travel trailers and smaller fifth wheels run on 30-amp. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes with dual air conditioning usually need 50-amp service to run everything without tripping breakers. Adapters exist, but running a 50-amp RV on a 30-amp circuit limits what you can operate at the same time.
Can I use a standard household outlet to charge my RV?
Technically yes, most RVs include a 120-volt adapter for 15- or 20-amp household outlets. What you can't do is run your air conditioner, microwave, and water heater at the same time on that circuit without tripping it constantly. A household outlet is a backup or a trickle charge option. For real usability at home, a dedicated 30-amp or 50-amp circuit is the right installation.
Does my electrical panel need to be upgraded before adding an RV hookup?
Not always. If your panel has an open breaker slot and sufficient total amperage, we can add the circuit directly. If it's full, or if the panel is an older Federal Pacific or Zinsco unit that shouldn't be trusted with added load, an upgrade is necessary first. We assess your panel during the site visit and tell you what you're working with before any work starts. See our panel upgrade information if you suspect capacity is an issue.
Is a permit required to install an RV outlet in Georgia?
It depends on the jurisdiction and the scope of the work. Columbia County and the Augusta metro generally require a permit for new circuit installations, including outdoor RV hookups. We handle the permit process when required. Skipping the permit to save money is the wrong call. An unpermitted circuit is a problem when you sell the property and a liability if something goes wrong.
How long does an RV circuit installation take?
A straightforward installation, panel has room, the outlet location is close, no trenching required, typically takes a few hours in a single visit. Longer runs, conduit work through finished walls, or jobs that require panel work add time. We give you a realistic timeline before we schedule so you're not waiting around. Call (706) 627-6021 to describe your setup and we'll give you a straight answer.
Can you also install an EV charger at the same time?
Yes. A 50-amp NEMA 14-50 outlet works for both RV shore power and many Level 2 EV chargers. If you're planning to add an electric vehicle, it makes sense to plan both circuits at the same time rather than open the panel twice. We also install dedicated EV charging stations with hardwired Level 2 units if that's what your vehicle requires.
