Lighting Solutions for Every Room

Priceless Electric provides residential and commercial lighting solutions throughout the CSRA, from swapping a single light fixture to wiring a full interior lighting plan from scratch. If the lights in your home aren't working right, don't look good, or simply aren't doing the job they should, that's a problem worth fixing. John Price has been doing this work for over 20 years, and he's licensed, bonded, and insured in Georgia. Call (706) 627-6021 to get an accurate estimate on what your project actually needs.

Good lighting isn't just about brightness. It's about where the fixtures are placed, what kind of light they produce, and whether the wiring behind the wall can handle the load you're asking of it. A recessed can retrofit in an older home has different demands than adding pendant lights over a kitchen island or running circuits for outdoor accent lighting. Cost depends on the number of fixtures, the condition of your existing wiring, ceiling access, and whether permits are required for the scope of work. Every job is different -- contact Priceless Electric for an accurate estimate.

What We Install

Lighting Types Priceless Electric Handles

From a single ceiling fixture to a whole-home lighting plan, here's what falls in our wheelhouse.

01

Recessed Lighting

Recessed cans change the entire feel of a room. We handle both new-construction rough-in and retrofit installations in existing ceilings, and we'll make sure each circuit is sized correctly for the fixture load.

02

Pendant and Chandelier Installation

Hanging fixtures are heavier and more complex than they look. We verify the electrical box is rated for the weight, run the right wire gauge, and get the fixture hanging level the first time.

03

Under-Cabinet and Accent Lighting

Under-cabinet lighting in kitchens and accent lighting in living spaces usually require dedicated circuits or low-voltage drivers. We wire it clean and out of sight so the finished product looks intentional.

04

Exterior and Landscape-Adjacent Lighting

Outdoor lighting needs weatherproof enclosures, GFCI protection, and in many cases a dedicated circuit. We install porch lights, security lighting, and soffit fixtures throughout the Augusta metro area.

05

Fan Installation

A ceiling fan installation is part lighting, part airflow. We install them on proper-rated boxes, handle the wiring for light and fan separately, and make sure the switch configuration matches what you need.

06

Commercial Lighting

Offices, retail spaces, and warehouses each have different code requirements and lighting standards. We handle commercial fixture installation and lighting circuit work for business owners and property managers throughout the CSRA.

Why Lighting Work Needs a Licensed Electrician

pendant and chandelier installation work, professional service in Grovetown, GA
A lot of homeowners treat light fixture swaps as a DIY job. Some of them are. But once you're adding new fixtures, running circuits, or changing fixture locations, you're in licensed-work territory in Georgia. The reasons matter: undersized wiring creates heat buildup in walls, unchecked junction boxes become fire risks over time, and fixtures installed on boxes that aren't rated for their weight have a way of reminding you of that fact at the worst moment. John Price is a licensed Georgia electrician with over 20 years on the job. He's fully bonded and insured, and he works on electrical systems in homes ranging from brand-new construction to houses built decades before the current code existed. Priceless Electric isn't a franchise with rotating crews. John is who shows up, and John backs the work. That's not a brand pitch -- that's just how an owner-operated trade business works. If you're planning a remodel and need the electrical piece handled correctly, or if you're buying a home and want the lighting updated before you move in, call (706) 627-6021.

How It Works

From Your First Call to Final Switch-On

  1. 01

    Call for an Estimate

Tell us what you're after -- one fixture, a full room, or something in between. We'll ask the right questions upfront so the estimate reflects the real scope of the work.

  2. 02

    We Assess the Existing Wiring

Before any fixture goes up, we check the circuit load, box rating, and wire condition. Skipping this step is where lighting installs go wrong. We don't skip it.

  3. 03

    Installation and Inspection

John completes the install, verifies every connection, and tests each fixture before he leaves. If a permit is required for the scope, we handle that process and schedule the inspection.

What Good Lighting Work Looks Like

These are the marks of a lighting install done by someone who's been doing this a long time.

  1. 01

Fixtures centered on a properly rated box

Electrical boxes have weight ratings. A chandelier that weighs 35 pounds needs a fan-rated box, not a standard one. This is the detail that separates a clean install from a liability.

  2. 02

Circuits loaded to code, not just to capacity

Georgia code requires lighting circuits to be loaded to no more than 80% of their rating. A circuit that's technically not tripped is not necessarily a circuit that's correctly loaded.

  3. 03

Wiring routed without junction boxes buried in walls

Every splice needs to be in an accessible junction box. Buried splices are a code violation and a fire risk. We route wire and splice only in accessible locations.

  4. 04

GFCI protection on every exterior and wet-area fixture

Outdoor fixtures, bathroom vanity lights, and fixtures within six feet of a water source require GFCI protection. This isn't optional -- it's Georgia electrical code, and it matters for your home insurance too.

Protecting the Rest of Your Electrical System

Every lighting job is also a chance to catch what's already wrong in your home's electrical system.

Twenty years on job sites means John has seen what lighting installs uncover: overloaded circuits, aluminum wiring spliced to copper without the right connectors, panels that can't handle one more circuit. If something looks off during a lighting install, you'll hear about it before it becomes a problem. Priceless Electric also handles whole-home surge protection and electrical maintenance -- so if your lighting project opens the door to a broader look at your system, we're equipped to handle what we find.

Lighting Questions, Answered Straight

What is a lighting solution, and when do I need an electrician for one?
A lighting solution is any change to how your home or business is lit -- adding fixtures, replacing them, or rerouting circuits to accommodate a new layout. You need a licensed electrician any time you're adding new wiring, moving a fixture to a new location, adding a circuit, or installing fixtures in a wet area or outdoors. Straight fixture swaps in existing boxes are sometimes DIY territory, but anything beyond that is Georgia licensed-work.
What is the 3-lighting rule, and does it affect how I plan my lighting project?
The 3-lighting rule is a design principle: layer ambient light (general illumination), task light (focused on work surfaces), and accent light (directed at a feature or object) in every room. It's a useful framework, but the electrical reality is that each layer may require separate circuits, separate dimmer switches, or both. Planning it correctly upfront is cheaper than adding circuits after the drywall is back up.
Can my existing circuits handle additional lighting fixtures?
Maybe, and maybe not. A standard 15-amp lighting circuit can handle roughly 1,440 watts at 80% load per code. Add up the wattage of every fixture already on that circuit, subtract from 1,440, and see what's left. LED fixtures use far less wattage than older incandescent loads, which often opens up capacity. But the wire gauge, the breaker rating, and the number of splices in the run all factor in. We check this before any fixture goes up.
Do I need a permit to install recessed lights in an existing ceiling?
In most Georgia jurisdictions, adding new circuits or moving electrical requires a permit. Simple fixture-for-fixture replacements in the same box typically don't. Recessed lighting retrofits -- where you're cutting new holes and adding new wiring -- often do require a permit depending on the county. Columbia County and Richmond County each have their own requirements. Priceless Electric handles permits when they're required and won't skip them to save time.
Why do my new LED fixtures flicker or buzz when I install a dimmer?
Older dimmer switches were designed for incandescent bulbs and use a different leading-edge dimming method. Most LED drivers require trailing-edge dimmers or dimmers specifically labeled as LED-compatible. Mixing the wrong dimmer with an LED fixture causes flicker, buzz, or dramatically shortened LED lifespan. The fix is replacing the dimmer -- not the fixture -- with one rated for your specific LED load. We carry the right dimmers and can resolve this in one visit.
What's involved in adding outdoor lighting to my home?
Outdoor lighting requires weatherproof-rated fixtures, GFCI protection on any exterior circuit, and in most cases, a dedicated circuit run from your panel. If the fixtures are on a soffit or eave, we need ceiling access or a chase to route wire cleanly. Landscape-adjacent lighting that runs below grade also needs UF-rated cable buried to the correct depth per code. Exterior work is one of the areas where cutting corners shows up fast -- usually at the next hard rain.
